Lacemaking Point Ground by CC Channer
Miss CC Channer is a legendary name in English lacemaking.
Catherine Channer, daughter of a clergyman, championed English lacemaking in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Her book, 'Lacemaking in Midlands, past and present', which is reprinted in Ann Buck's book; In the Cause of English Lace, helped to bring the English laces to more prominence.
The mythical 'Miss Channer's' mat pattern has been fought over lacemakers world wide as a piece of lace that they all yearn to make. As it has been out of print for over 2 decades, it's rarity has only served to increase it's legend.
What works well?
- The book has exquisitely hand drawn diagrams
Anything that we need to take into consideration?
- The prickings are shown square grids as it was expected that the lacemaker would replot them on their own grids.
- This book is out of print, but comes regularly on eBay
