Chrisken (Ken Surrey)
There are only a few people who have bought me bobbins - I tend to buy them myself. However, my mother always bought me a pair for my birthday and these were one of those pairs.
They are lemon wood with paua shell inserts. I know that they were bought around 1990. It took a while to identify the maker of these as I was sure that they were from a wood turner who was local to my mother ... well, I got that wrong, I mistook the maker's surname (surrey) to be the location.
Ken Surry (Chrisken) was based in Newbury however he stopped making bobbins back in 2002.
I do love them and they have a very beautiful feel to them. The beads are a pair of imitation turquoise with an Italian Murano glass bead on the base.
