Back in the early 90s Tuffnel glass used to make glass bobbins.
I love the coffee and tea pot spangles that I got from them for the twist bobbins but I personally find them difficult to use as the threads often slip.
I think the answer maybe to wrap the top of the shank with something like micropore. I'll have to try that sometime!
