New Ideas for Miniature Bobbin Lace by Roz Snowden
Roz Snowden adds to the wonderful 1/12th (Dolls House) scale patterns availble to lacemakers with this book.  It builds on Roz's previous book;
Miniature Bobbin Lace
Picture
What works well?
  • The photos and diagrams help with understanding how the lace is to be created
  • As with Roz's first book, a number of these projects can be created in an evening or two so you can make a quick and personal gift for the miniaturist in your life.
Anything that we need to take into consideration?
  • Whilst this book is the second miniature book by Roz, it does stand alone and has stitch and technique guides at the start of the book
  • Be aware that a couple of the patterns on the front cover didn't make the publisher's cut and don't appear in the book.
  • This book is out of print, but regularly appears on eBay.
What do other people say?
This book was reviewed on the gumnuts website
This book of lace patterns are for dollhouse dolls, and has six project categories, including The Wedding, Christening Party, The Ball, and some furnishings.
This book has a chapter on Basic techniques, and an excellent chapter on Stitches and Techniques.
Instructions include thread sizes, numbers of bobbins, prickings, and work method.
These would be delightful pieces of lace to make for your dollhouse, but I would consider them to be for an advanced lacemaker, seeing they are so tiny.

ISBN-10 : 1861080867
ISBN-13 : 978-1861080868
Minature Bobbin Lace by Roz Snowden
This book is packed with fantastic 1/12th (Dolls House) scale projects.
For the very small projects, it will benefit you to invest in some thin pins so that your projects are less crowded.
Roz also published a second volume; New Ideas for Miniature Bobbin Lace
What works well?
  • The photos and diagrams help with understanding how the lace is to be created
  • A number of these projects can be created in an evening or two so you can make a quick and personal gift for the miniaturist in your life.
Anything that we need to take into consideration?
  • Some of the pieces are exceptionally small and any mistakes will stand out when using thin thread so I would recommend that you start with some of the bigger projects whilst you get used to working in 1/12th scale.
  • This book is out of print, but regularly appears on eBay.

I'm the lace bee and these are my books

With currently over 400 books and about the same number of individual patterns, I have an enviable library.  So here are some of my books.

You can see all of the titles by opening up the archives or by clicking on the categories which I've used to group by authors, language and lace types.  Want to find a particular book?  Scroll to the top of the page, click on the magnifier glass and type in a title or author.

I am very grateful to the lace gumnuts of Australia for permission to quote and link their reviews to this site.
