The machine lace industry in Nottingham was founded in 1760.  This book, written for the Society of Operative Lace Makers & Auxiliary Workers, Amalgamated, in 1960 gives a comprehensive history of the industry and the work of the trade union.

​Written at time when the industry was thriving, it offers information about not just the Nottingham lace industry but also the whole of the UK.

• Whilst not fully illustrated, it does have a few black and white plates showing different machines.

• This book is focused on the machine lace trade and is not about bobbin history.
• This book was a single publication in 1960 and is out of print.  Copies can be found on second hand websites.
